“It was all-important. When a woman thinks that her house is on fire, her instinct is at once to rush to the thing she values most. […] A married woman grabs at her baby ; an unmarried one reaches for her jewel-box.”Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - « A Scandal in Bohemia » (1891).
One of my recent obsessions, the BBC show, Sherlock. It’s a real shame, I just finished the second series and have to wait for the third!
Beautiful Minds: Richard Dawkins
BBC4 25 April 2012
Professor Richard Dawkins reveals how he came to write his explosive first book The Selfish Gene, a work that was to divide the scientific community and make him the most influential evolutionary biologist of his generation. He also explores how this set him on the path to becoming an outspoken spokesman for atheism.
Ouch, John. Ouch.
Here Sherlock is trying to be all proud by saying ‘This is my friend. Yes, my friend. I like someone enough to call them friend. I bet he’s better than any of your so called friends! My John. My friend. Right, John?’
“Colleague.”
And so you leave Sherlock to get laughed at by the jerk, having him wonder ‘… Why didn’t you say friend..?’
Ouch.
A Sherlock fanvid.
(sorry far-fetched and other non-Sherlockians)
